West Palm man accused of roommate’s murder dies at mental health site

A 27-year-old man accused of stabbing and bludgeoning his roommate to death in their West Palm Beach apartment in November 2021 died in January at a mental health treatment facility in Martin County.

Dominique Russo, the attorney for Nikolas Lafountain, confirmed his death but provided no other details. The circumstances regarding the death were not immediately known.

The state charged Lafountain with first-degree murder in the killing of 25-year-old Michael Lee Wilson. West Palm Beach police said Lafountain stabbed Wilson and attacked him with a sledgehammer on Nov. 8, 2021, at their shared home on Paseo Navarra, a street off Southern Boulevard near Interstate 95…
