EL CAJON, Calif. — Empty storefronts, sparse crowds and an unusually open parking lot have become the new normal at Parkway Plaza — a mall many longtime residents say has lost its energy.
“It’s really slow,” said Jaime Mayen, who was shopping there with his family. “Not many people in there. A lot of stores are closed. Just not a lot of traffic.”
