Elk Grove hit-and-run leaves family grieving; suspect arrested, posts bail

ELK GROVE, Calif. — A family is grieving the loss of a father killed in a hit-and-run in Elk Grove nearly a week ago, speaking publicly about their pain, anger and the suspect’s release from jail as the case moves forward.

Daniel Sanchez, 61, was outside his car fixing a flat tire on the shoulder of Bruceville Road near Bilby Road when Elk Grove Police say he was struck by a Dodge pickup and the driver left the scene. He later died at the hospital, officials said.
