Council members to reaffirm Toledo’s status as welcoming community

As cities across the United States grapple with the effects of an immigration crackdown, three Toledo City Council members are reaffirming Toledo’s status as a welcoming community.

Councilmen Nick Komives, Theresa Gadus, and Brittany Jones have sponsored a resolution that highlights Toledo’s diverse backgrounds and traditions and emphasizes that “immigrant residents, regardless of citizenship status, play a critical role in strengthening Toledo’s economy.”

“The purpose of the resolution is really clear,” Mr. Komives said. “It’s to reaffirm our city’s commitment to being a welcoming community to our immigrant neighbors, and we’re especially proud of the contributions that immigrants who come to our community make, whether that’s cultural, economic, social.”…
