J.W. Faulk Elementary fifth graders prepare for big day Tuesday

Fifth-grade students at J.W. Faulk Elementary School will step into a world of professionalism and confidence during the school’s first “Dress for Success” event at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. announced this year that the district is focusing on teaching soft skills, such as confidence, etiquette and professionalism, alongside academic instruction. This new initiative is designed to prepare students for success both inside and outside the classroom, Lafayette Parish School System announced.

All 63 fifth graders — including 36 boys and 27 girls — have been outfitted in professional attire thanks to generous donations from Love Our Schools and from school faculty and staff. Female students received dresses, while male students received suits, button-down shirts and ties…
