The Springfield Police Department welcomed 24 recruits for its 81st Springfield Police Academy training, according to a community announcement.
The class consists of 22 men and two women from across the country, including Oklahoma, California and various parts of Missouri. The recruits bring diverse backgrounds in education and work, including previous experience in the military, corrections, sales, private security, fire service and private business.
