SPOKANE, Wash. — A 10-year-old Logan Elementary School student and her father have been released from federal custody after being detained by Border Patrol in Spokane last month.
Latinos en Spokane posted about the family’s release on Facebook Saturday. Arnoldo Tiul Caal and his daughter, Karla, were detained in early January and taken to the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas.
Court documents filed Friday show that Tiul Caal and Karla were released from federal custody. A Texas attorney working with the family, Dan Gividen, graduated from Gonzaga Law School and took on the case pro bono after hearing about it on social media…
