A 46-year-old woman from Waimanalo died after being seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Kalanianaole Highway. The collision occurred around 12:20 a.m. on January 29 near Bell Street, when her vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.
She was hospitalized in serious condition and passed away last Saturday. Emergency crews had closed lanes at the scene while investigators from the Honolulu Police Department examined the crash.
As reported by Hawaii News Now, her death is now counted as the sixth traffic fatality on Oahu so far this year, compared with seven at the same point in 2025. Investigators have not determined whether speed, drugs or alcohol played any role in the crash.
Crash location and investigation
The Honolulu Police Department identified the scene as Kalanianaole Highway about 3,360 feet east of Bell Street, along a stretch where the roadway shoulder is unimproved. Officers said the investigation remains open as detectives work to understand what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
