Damaged banyan tree suspends Aliiolani Hale tours

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Aliʻiōlani Hale tours are temporarily suspended starting Tuesday as crews remove a large banyan tree damaged by strong winds.

The tree is partially uprooted and leaning toward the building, with cracks visible in its large branches.

For safety reasons, the public cannot access the Supreme Court Law Library, and tours at the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center are suspended, said the Hawaii State Judiciary.

Officials say the adjacent parking lot behind the Territorial Building will be closed for at least one day…
