New Images Released in Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie; “Armed” Individual Seen Tampering with Doorbell Camera

Authorities investigating the perplexing disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, have released critical new images and video footage. These visuals depict a masked individual, described by law enforcement as “armed,” appearing to manipulate the doorbell camera at Guthrie’s Arizona residence on the very day she vanished.

The black-and-white images and video clips, made public on Tuesday by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, were retrieved from the Nest doorbell camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home. They show a person in a full-faced ski mask, equipped with a backpack and gloves, and holding a flashlight in their mouth. The individual is seen seemingly using plants to obstruct the front porch doorbell camera.

FBI Director Kash Patel shared a statement on X Tuesday, confirming, “Law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”

Nancy Guthrie, 84, who suffers from limited mobility, a pacemaker, and relies on daily medication for a heart condition, was reported missing on February 1. She was last seen the previous night after family dropped her off at her home in the Catalina Foothills, just outside Tucson, following a dinner.

Authorities believe she was taken from her home against her will. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that blood discovered on the porch matched Guthrie’s.

For days, investigators struggled to access footage from Guthrie’s doorbell camera, which inexplicably disconnected at 1:47 a.m. MST on February 1 and was subsequently removed, as previously stated by Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos. However, on Tuesday, authorities announced they had collaborated with private sector partners to recover “any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices.”

The recovered video was sourced from “residual data located in backend systems,” according to the joint statement released by Patel and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Patel further disseminated the recovered video clips through separate X posts.

As of now, law enforcement officials have not identified any persons of interest or suspects in this high-profile case, which has garnered national attention. Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have made emotional public appeals for her mother’s safe return.

On Monday, the NBC anchor posted an Instagram video, stating, “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.” She described the situation as a “nightmare,” adding, “Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock trying to bring her home, trying to find her.

She was taken, and we don’t know where.” Savannah Guthrie also shared the doorbell images on her Instagram account Tuesday, with the message: “We believe she is still alive.

Bring her home.”

The FBI is assisting in the investigation and has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.
