Woodfin unveils plan to save young Black males from violence ‘before they turn to the streets’

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin on Tuesday announced the launch of the Black Male Initiative, a plan aimed at early intervention, particularly for boys ages 8-14, to help keep them on the right path.

The goal, the mayor said, is a community-driven strategy focused on improving outcomes from Black boys and men by addressing root causes – not just symptoms – of disconnection and harm.
