BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office issued a temporary unsafe water advisory for the Lerdo Detention Facilities on Tuesday.
The State Water Resources Control Board recommended using an alternative drinking water supply “out of an abundance of caution” as part of an ongoing maintenance project at Lerdo, officials said.

Tap water in the facilities should not be used as drinking water, according to KCSO. Water that is safe to drink is being provided throughout facilities for all inmates and employees, along with water coolers at all housing units.
KCSO said it is working to complete maintenance and conduct water quality testing. Updates will come once the water is confirmed safe for normal use…
