The historic 1927 Chattanooga Savings Bank & Trust Company building has reopened downtown as The Waymark Hotel, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
The converted 148-room hotel is owned by Milwaukee-based HKS Holdings and will be managed by Raleigh, N.C.-based Concord Hospitality. Vacant for nearly two decades, the extensive renovation was designed to preserve the building’s original character—from grand arched windows and detailed masonry to marble accents—while introducing a modern aesthetic.
“Along with the vision of all of our real estate developments, this hotel was about honoring the character of the building while bringing new energy to downtown Chattanooga’s central business district,” Tyler Hawley, principal of HKS Holdings, said in a statement. “We’re proud to create a space that blends history, design and community in a way that will be enjoyed for years to come.”…
