Clarksville police respond to calls of an armed subject experiencing a mental health crisis

Clarksville Police responded to Westfield Court Monday afternoon for reports of an armed individual who was experiencing a mental health crisis.

According to a news release, officers responded to the 100 block of Westfield for reports of an adult male suspect who was making suicidal statements while armed with a firearm. A police perimeter was established for negotiators to make contact with the man.

At around 6:15 p.m. while negotiations were underway, officers reportedly heard a gunshot. Contact was quickly made with the subject, who had a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and staff immediately began administering medical aid until EMS arrived on scene…
