Family, police speak after man arrested in connection with 2002 killing of High Point woman; ‘mighty soldier of God’

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Investigators and family members are speaking after an arrest was made in a 2002 murder case in High Point.

High Point Police Department plans to hold a news conference on Tuesday morning to discuss the arrest of Ricky Dean Cox, 61, in connection with the killing of Betty Moore over two decades ago.

“My mama was a woman of God,” she said.

Moore’s daughter, Amie Solomon-Russell, a nurse, said that she is grateful to the police department for giving her closure, describing her mother as a “mighty, mighty soldier” of God who was always helping people, and that a lot of prayer helped her get through the long years of waiting for answers…
