Bay Area airspace crowded with private flyers just hours after Super Bowl ends

Whether they came to see the Seattle Seahawks take home the trophy or just watch Bad Bunny’s halftime show in person, the wealthy spectators who opted to fly private to Super Bowl Sunday brought a massive spike in private jet traffic to the Bay Area.

According to a report from FlightRadar24, between 7 p.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday following the game, 136 jets departed from five airports in the region, a 1,136% increase from the 11 business jet departures on the previous Sunday, Feb. 1.

The five Bay Area airports FlightRadar24 studied were San Francisco International Airport, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, San Jose Mineta International Airport, Hayward Executive Airport and Livermore Municipal Airport.
