Shaun Hampton named new Rancho Cordova Police Chief
The City of Rancho Cordova has appointed Shaun Hampton as the new Chief of Police, effective March 2026. Hampton, a Sheriff’s Captain with over 25 years of experience at the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, will succeed Chief Matthew Tamayo, who will retire the same month.
Hampton has served in many roles, including Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, and SWAT member, and has worked closely with the Rancho Cordova community.
