A historic hotel that once housed stars such as Aretha Franklin and James Brown is back under construction.
The Hotel Lincoln at 400 Eddie Robinson Drive is undergoing renovations to become a 12-unit apartment building with two commercial spaces. Developer Anthony Kimble hopes to complete the $4.5 million project by the end of the year, he told the Downtown Development District Commission at their meeting Tuesday morning.
Construction started in the fall, and workers found the structural damage to the windows and plaster proved to be greater than initially thought, Kimble said.
