WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — The Chief Executive Officer of the company whose driver left three disabled adults in an idling van in West Valley Friday, leading to fatal carbon monoxide poisonings, told ABC4 News that the driver’s actions that day were “not normal.”
The Department of Health and Human Services identified the company as Safe and Sound Services, LLC, located at 1574 South 1700 West in Salt Lake City. West Valley Police took 25-year-old Isaiah Pulu, one of the company’s drivers, into custody Friday on several charges including manslaughter and aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult.
Pulu told authorities he was in his apartment for more than 3 hours eating lunch and watching T.V., while the men, two of which were non-verbal, waited in Pulu’s van that was parked inside a garage. According to police, Pulu told officers he left the garage door open before leaving the men, but when he returned, he said it was closed.
