RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The Reno City Council is expected to consider and discuss whether to raise the city’s Waste Management franchise fee by as much as 6%, leading to higher trash bills for residents and increased revenue for the city.
According to the staff report, council members are being asked to increase the franchise fee from 8% to 14%, which would result in an additional $5.5 million revenue annually. An estimate for how much residents’ trash bills would increase was not included in the staff report.
