Northeast Ohio Medicare patients surprised by rising up-front drug costs

Many Northeast Ohio Medicare patients are noticing higher costs at the pharmacy this year, even though a federal law was designed to make prescription drugs more affordable.

Jay Rayl, owner of Cleveland-based Medicare Made Simple, said changes to Medicare Part D and the resulting insurance plan adjustments have left many seniors confused as they are being quoted much higher-than-expected prices for their medications.

“My office is being flooded with phone calls of people… they don’t really understand it until they see it when they go fill their prescriptions,” Rayl said…
