Cobb reaches $30M deal over failed pump station

MARIETTA — Nearly three years after suing the contractors behind what was the largest water system project in county history, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to settle the lawsuit for $30 million.

The county filed suit in 2023 in Cobb Superior Court, alleging negligence by contractors involved in the construction of a wastewater pumping facility that suffered what the county described as a “massive and catastrophic failure” in late 2018.

Under the negotiated settlement, Cobb will receive a total of $30 million from several companies involved in the project, including Shea-Traylor, Archer Western Contractors, Hydro Gate, Southern Valve & Metals, Charles Finch Valve Company and Parsons Water and Infrastructure…
