BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It’s not quite spring, but this week may be time to start on that seasonal cleaning.
The city of Bakersfield is set to host a bulky waste collection event for residents on Saturday, Feb. 14. The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon at the Bakersfield Sports Village located at 9001 Ashe Road, according to city officials.

Officials said the event is only for items that are too big to fit into common residential trash bins.
The city says it accepting the following items at the site:
- furniture
- mattresses
- box springs
- major appliances
- electronics
- water heaters
- barbecue grills without propane tanks.
Items not accepted during the event include:
- propane tanks
- construction debris
- items with refrigerant
- items weighing more than 300 pounds
- liquid and household hazardous waste.
