JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville leaders and community members are mourning the death of former State Rep. and Jacksonville City Council Member Terry Fields, a longtime public servant remembered for his mentorship, humor and commitment to uplifting others.

Fields died at the age of 56 Sunday after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy that stretched from city hall to classrooms across Duval County.
