Small business relief bill targets road construction losses in Michigan

Small businesses shouldn’t have to risk closing their doors or laying off staff if local road construction drags on and impedes customer access.

That’s the notion behind a proposal to help businesses stay afloat during prolonged road work via a grant program. Rep. Julie Rogers, D-Kalamazoo, announced the bill this week, though it won’t be introduced in the House until Wednesday, Feb. 18.
