Dauphin County lawmaker pushes new law that would increase penalties for violating PFA orders

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Dauphin County lawmaker is pushing a newly passed bill that would strengthen the penalties for violating protection from abuse orders.

House Bill 1909, which passed on Feb. 2, would increase the penalties for crimes like stalking, harassment and battery for people who repeatedly violate PFA orders against them.

“I don’t find it acceptable for those individuals to do it with impunity over and over again,” State Rep. Nate Davidson (D-Dauphin) said. “We have to assess if the consequences are fitting what’s happening.”…
