STG Logistics Leases Getwell Road Hub For Amazon In Memphis

STG Logistics has locked in a warehouse lease on Getwell Road in Memphis to function as a cross-dock hub for Amazon, a concrete expansion of the city’s already crowded logistics landscape. The site drops another piece of last-mile and regional sorting infrastructure right by Memphis International Airport and nearby intermodal yards, which means local traffic patterns could see an uptick as the operation ramps.

According to the Daily Memphian, STG Logistics Inc. is taking the Getwell Road building specifically to handle cross-docking for Amazon. The outlet reported the deal on Monday and noted the company is “looking for exponential growth with Amazon locally after this first deal.” STG Logistics lists the company as Dublin, Ohio-based and describes a nationwide network of port-to-door facilities and services.

Why Getwell Road matters

Getwell Road is not exactly a sleepy side street. It is already lined with large industrial buildings and truck yards that plug straight into Memphis freight arteries, which makes it a natural address for cross-dock operators. A nearby warehouse listing on LoopNet underscores the corridor’s proximity to I-240, I-55, BNSF intermodal ramps, and Memphis International Airport, all of which help speed handoffs between truck, rail, and air. A more recent sublease posting on CommercialCafe shows that large, modern spaces on Getwell can be quickly repurposed for e-commerce work instead of waiting around for the next tenant.

STG’s timing and business position

In January, STG announced a financial restructuring that it said would reduce debt and provide fresh capital while operations continue, which the company framed as a way to position itself for growth opportunities. In that light, the Getwell Road lease looks like a move to secure revenue from a major e-commerce client. The Daily Memphian reported that STG is “looking for exponential growth with Amazon locally” after this first deal. STG’s own release on the restructuring outlines plans to strengthen the balance sheet and support continued investment in its network.

What this could mean for the market

The lease lines up with a broader industrial real estate shift in which occupiers and third-party logistics providers are backfilling existing buildings and favoring pre-leased or build-to-suit projects as speculative construction slows. Industry analysis shows warehouse starts and speculative deliveries have cooled since the pandemic boom, which has made pre-leased deals and repurposed buildings more attractive to both landlords and tenants…
