Horry County Sheriff Phillip Thompson told the Horry County Council’s Public Safety committee that in 2025, 13,052 inmates were booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Thompson’s theme was the need for more space at the center, especially as it relates to inmates with mental health issues. He thanked the county council for recognizing the need to deal with mental health issues.
