Ground broken for SPLOST funded $18M Savannah police Northwest precinct

By the end of the year, the Savannah Police Department (SPD) is slated to open its newest precinct in the Carver Heights neighborhood.

On Monday morning, SPD officers and elected-officials stood at the site where a 24,000 square foot facility will become the centralized hub for law enforcement where technology such as Shotspotter and Flock cameras are analyzed under one roof.

“As the needs of public safety becomes more complex, we have to meet that moment with new technology, new innovation, new workforces and new ways of doing business,” Savannah City Manager Jay Melder said…
