Quiet weather Wednesday in South Texas, but big forecast changes are coming soon

A weak cold front will push through the San Antonio area early Wednesday. However, this front likely won’t result in any meaningful drop in temperatures, with afternoon highs expected to reach levels similar to Tuesday afternoon’s.

However, the front will bring light northerly winds and lower humidity levels for South Texas. Overall, we should have a quiet and comfortable day to spend outdoors. Enjoy it, because temperatures and humidity are set to rise by the end of the week, and the region could see thunderstorms by Saturday. Here’s what you can expect.

Wednesday’s forecast

As the weak front moves through the region, a few isolated light showers or areas of drizzle are possible, mainly between 4 and 8 a.m. Wednesday. However, most in the San Antonio metro area will likely stay dry as temperatures hover next to 60 degrees through the morning.

Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy through mid-morning. As drier air filters in, though, sunshine will become dominant by the middle of the day. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s at noon, likely rising into the mid-70s by the mid-afternoon.

A beautiful evening is anticipated, too, with temps falling back into the 60s after 7 p.m., eventually reaching into the 50s during the overnight hours. Winds will be very light, with clouds starting to increase again by early Thursday.

Thursday and Friday changes

On Thursday, winds will shift direction and start moving in from the south, which means atmospheric moisture, temperature, and humidity values will rise as well. Expect San Antonio high temps to reach the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, which would be about 10 to 15 degrees above average for mid-February…
