DENVER (KDVR) — A snowstorm is heading into the mountains on Wednesday, with many areas expected to see between a few inches and a few feet of snow over the next few days.
Colorado has seen a less-than-average amount of snow this year. Denver has seen about half the average amount of snow, while mountain towns are struggling as well. The snowpack has been at its lowest in history and some trails haven’t been able to open on the slopes.
Timing, totals, what to know for incoming mountain snow this week
Despite the little amount of snowfall, a storm coming in will bring some much-needed snow to parts of Colorado.
Here are the areas expected to see the most snow:
- Rabbit Ears Pass: 20 inches
- Crested Butte: 13 inches
- Vail: 10 inches
- Vail Pass: 8 inches
- Edwards: 8 inches
The Pinpoint Weather team said Rabbit Ears Pass might see almost 2 feet of snow, while Crested Butte is expected to see over a foot of snow. Some mountain towns will see a good amount of snow, but in Denver, it should remain dry.
