Portland’s wacky winter weather continues

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Here we are nearing mid-February, and Portland’s winter weather so far has been anything but normal. Let’s take a moment to review this odd winter and then look ahead to the upcoming holiday weekend and beyond.

Meteorological winter in the Pacific Northwest is defined as December 1 through the last day of February.

After a warmer and drier than normal November in Portland, December turned up the heat and the temperature. More than 8.50″ of rain fell in Portland during the month, and temperatures throughout the month were nearly 6° above normal at the airport. This warmth reached a peak of 62° on both the 10th and 11th. December 2025 went down in the record books as the warmest December on record at the Portland airport. Records go back to approximately 1940 at the airport.

January ended up around average for temperatures in Portland but much drier than December, with only 2.50″ of rainfall recorded at the Portland Airport…
