YORK TWP., MI — An influx of proposals for massive data centers to power artificial intelligence and other computing technologies has prompted York Township officials to consider pausing such proposals for at least six months.
The pause, called a moratorium, would give township officials time to consider establishing local rules and regulations for data centers, which the township currently does not have in its zoning ordinance.
One real estate brokerage has already been eying about 412 acres in the township south of Ann Arbor for a “hyperscale” data center.
