Olympic snowboarder Cam Bolton, a four-time Olympian, is recovering in a Milan hospital after sustaining a broken neck during a training accident last Monday. The 35-year-old athlete initially walked away from the crash without realizing the severity of his injury.

Bolton began experiencing increased neck pain the following day, prompting scans that revealed two fractures in his neck. He was subsequently airlifted from the mountains to Milan for specialized medical treatment.

Alisa Camplin, Team Chef de Mission, offered a reassuring update on Bolton’s condition, commending the high standard of care he is receiving. She noted that Bolton was keen to communicate with his teammates, assuring them of his well-being and the comprehensive support in place.

The Australian Olympic Committee echoed this sentiment in a statement, confirming Bolton is in stable condition and good spirits. They are working closely with local doctors and neurospecialists in Australia to determine the next steps for his assessment and treatment.

Bolton, who made his Olympic debut at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, has a distinguished career with two top-10 finishes and a silver medal at the 2025 World Championships team event. He was slated to compete in both the men’s snowboard cross and mixed team events at the upcoming Milan Cortina games.
