4 indicted by federal grand jury in cocaine-fentanyl-meth trafficking case

Four men were indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly trafficking large shipments of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and marijuana.

The U.S. District Court of Southern Ohio announced the indictments Wednesday, alleging that the four individuals possessed:

  • 119 kilograms of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.
  • 170 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
  • 80 pounds of suspected marijuana.

DEA agents seized the suspected substances on Feb. 2 after executing a federal search warrant on a freight package delivered to a distribution center in Dayton.

Two of the men indicted are Los Angeles residents.

  • Jason Heath, 40, Dayton
  • Roderic Searcy, 60, Los Angeles
  • Craig Worthen, 40, Los Angeles
  • Mark Lane, 33, Cincinnati

A day after the search warrant was executed by DEA agents, Searcy and Lane allegedly traveled to the distribution center, took the freight — a van — and left with two pallets.

Meanwhile, Heath and Worthen allegedly followed the van to an address in Dayton. Once the four allegedly determined that the suspected substances were no longer present, they attempted to flee, but were taken into custody by federal agents…
