Michael Izzo, an off-duty NYPD officer who was injured in a crash early Sunday morning in Greenlawn, has died, Suffolk County police said Wednesday.
Izzo, 42, a Huntington resident, died Tuesday. He was injured in a collision with another car at 3:19 a.m. at the corner of Broadway and Little Plains Road. He was taken to South Shore University Hospital; the other driver, David Loughlin, 56, of Hauppauge was not injured,
The NYPD Columbia Association, an organization for Italian-American officers, said that Izzo had served in the 111th Precinct in Bayside, Queens.
