A ‘major milestone’ for Angels of Assisi with the official opening of its new building

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– Angels of Assisi celebrated the opening of its new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, surrounded by dozens of community leaders, members, and Angels staff. Officials said this building will better serve Roanoke and southwest Virginia.

“We’ve moved up in so many different ways. We’re able to help more people, we’re able to do more services, and we’re able to offer the same services that we’ve had, but better,” said Lisa O’Neill, the executive director for Angels of Assisi. “It’s a lot more comfortable for the pets, and for the owners, quite frankly, it’s a much nicer environment.”

Angels officials call the new space a major milestone, which expands their ability to provide services throughout the Roanoke Valley and beyond. O’Neill said she likes to think of the non-profit as “an animal shelter for people”…
