A man convicted of killing a 23-year-old man during a parking lot shooting near Highland Street and Amarillo Boulevard was sentenced to 60 years in prison, while the driver who helped him flee pleaded guilty and received a 25-year sentence, prosecutors said.
The shooting stemmed from a fight that broke out in January 2024 in a parking lot near the intersection. During the altercation, a vehicle carrying four people who knew those involved in the fight pulled up to the scene. The driver, Jorge Cabello, and a passenger, Isaac Botello, both 22 years old at the time, got out of the vehicle and approached the group, authorities said.
