APD reports downwards trend in crime rate

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Since the start of the year, in Amarillo, two shootings have been reported, with one leading to the death of a 15-year-old.

Amarillo Police Department Chief Thomas Hover said that while one is too many, there is still a downward trend on crime rate in Amarillo.

“We haven’t seen any changes. When I looked at the data from 24 to 25, the percentages of those folks who are involved as far as victims as well as suspects,” added Hover. “The same percentages are seen in 24 and 25. But again, we’re seeing reductions in overall incidents.”…
