JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A former Jackson police officer is on trial for first-degree murder after prosecutors say he attacked a man with an axe and shot him at least 15 times at the victim’s apartment.
Marcus Johnson is charged with first-degree murder and shooting into a dwelling in the death of Carlos Collins at the Tapestry Northridge Apartments on Parkway Drive in April 2024. Johnson was captured in Louisiana, more than two hours away from where the crime happened.
Collins, 25, was a registered nurse at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Relationship history revealed in court
