Man hikes up condo stairwells to help neighbors evacuate during Salt Lake fire

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A resident at Canyon Road Towers took action during a fire at the 13-story condo building, hiking up multiple flights of stairs to ensure his neighbors made it out safely.

“I was on the second floor, and we went up to the tenth floor and then started knocking on doors and checking for people to get them out of the building,” Gordon Flade said.

Flade said smoke quickly became a concern, even on the lower levels of the building.
