NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WJW) — The coach at the center of a widely-viewed video showing an aggressive attack at a youth wrestling tournament released a statement Wednesday in which he accepted full responsibility for his actions and explained what he claims led to the altercation.

The attack happened Feb. 1 during a match between Brecksville and Brookside at North Olmsted High School. Video obtained by FOX 8 appeared to show Brecksville’s youth coach, William Dies, attempting to punch a referee as he turned his back.
Days later, it was announced that Dies would be banned from Buckeye Wrestling Association (BWA) events for life.
