Manassas, Va. – The Prince William County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving callers falsely claiming to represent law enforcement and demanding immediate payment.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a scammer recently contacted a resident while allegedly posing as a deputy. The caller reportedly claimed the resident had outstanding warrants or unpaid tickets and required immediate payment. Fraudulent documents were also sent via text message as supposed “proof.”…
