Stolen beehives worth tens of thousands recovered in Northern California, deputies say

A Northern California man was arrested after authorities recovered stolen commercial beehives valued in the high tens of thousands of dollars in a remote area of northeastern Yolo County, according to authorities.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that deputies were alerted a day earlier to several beehive boxes that had recently appeared in the rural area. Agricultural crime investigators located the live hives and determined they had been altered in what appeared to be an effort to conceal identifying markings.

“While monitoring the area, investigators later observed a suspect return to the site and continue modifying the hives,” the Sheriff’s Office said…
