Lincoln chef brings a taste of home from Myanmar

Freezing rain trickles down the window panes at Asian Taste Thai on a dreary Wednesday morning in Lincoln, Nebraska. Inside, however, is a different scene as flames flare up each time the skillet tosses rice, warming the kitchen staff and owner Ehsay Lar.

What Lar, 41, from the Kayin State (formerly Karen) in Myanmar (formerly Burma), could only have dreamt of while living in a Thai refugee camp as a child is his reality today.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to God for bringing me to (a) country I never dreamed (of) in my life,” Lar said…
