Chaotic scenes were observed in Hennepin County Government Center as plain-clothed ICE agents chased and then arrested a young man attending a court hearing on Tuesday.
The scenes were sparked just before noon, when an 18-year-old man – later identified as Junior de Jesus Herrera Berrios – was pursued through the government center lobby before being tackled and pinned to the ground.
It sparked a reaction from bystanders watching the scene unfold. They surrounded the group and began blowing whistles and shouting abuse at the agents, who didn’t appear to be wearing anything identifying them as federal immigration officers.
The crowd then followed as the agents led Berrios out of the building into a vehicle with Illinois plates, per the Star Tribune, which also reports that at least one officer had been observed hanging around in the government center near to the courtroom where Berrios was appearing…
