ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man who attempted to run away from police by throwing a dog at them was in court on Wednesday. In August, a loitering call led police to the DK gas station on Candelaria Rd. and Carlisle Blvd, where they found 41-year old Bobby Chavez.

Police asked for identification, but instead, Chavez threw a small dog at police and ran. Chavez refused transport from the Metropolitan Detention Center for his last court appearance. At Wednesday’s hearing, a judge sentenced Chavez to screening for drug court. If he fails, Chavez faces up to 18 months in prison.
