BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Saks Fifth Avenue store in Birmingham will be closing, according to Saks Global on Tuesday.

The store at The Summit will be one of eight Saks Fifth Avenue locations shutting down. The Associated Press reported the stores that are set to shut down will stay open until the end of April. Saks Global filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January.
“As part of Saks Global’s ongoing evaluation of its physical footprint, we have made the decision to close select Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus locations, including the Saks Fifth Avenue Birmingham location, based on a number of factors, including performance and lease economics,” Saks Global said in a statement.
The closings will leave Saks Global with 25 Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 35 Neiman Marcus stores. The company plans to continue operating its two Bergdorf Goodman stores…
