MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Following the death of Mathews County Commonwealth’s Attorney Marie Walls, it was only fitting to speak with her longtime boss, and more importanly, her friend, former Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Phil Ferguson.
Ferguson, now fully retired, worked with Walls when she worked in his office in Suffolk. He does not believe Walls — whose full name is Tina Marie Walls — died by suicide. He believes it was an accidental shooting.
“The best way I can put it, I was just shocked,” Ferguson said. “I had no idea what occurred, how it occurred. I didn’t know anything other than, I got the message, and it was like somebody hit me in the head with a sledgehammer. It was like I was just in total disbelief.”…
