String of domestic murder-suicides in North Central Florida prompts calls for early intervention

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) — Four women have been murdered in the last two weeks in North Central Florida, all in connection with domestic violence situations.

The latest victims were a mother and her 4-year-old daughter, killed in Marion County. Police say Ralph Bacon, 38, killed his estranged wife, Nancy Bacon, 34, and her daughter Tuesday night at Marion Springs Condominiums before taking his own life in Georgia. Family members packed up Bacon and her daughter’s belongings on Wednesday afternoon.

Pattern of domestic-related killings

Tuesday night’s shooting in Ocala is one of several domestic-related killings investigators have responded to this year.

In Union County, authorities say Jason Holton, 47, shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Candace Joseph, 43, and Marisa Salome Jimenez, 42, who was helping her move. He then took his own life after a chase that ended on I-75 in Alachua County…
